Our big Re-brand, from Little Twidlets to Hadley Green Home

So excited that our little sustainable shop has a new name, logo and branding but it really wasn't easy to choose and design.

We absolutely loved the Little Twidlets name when we first opened in 2015, however, over the years our business changed and evolved. We became so much more than the little baby and children's shop, that we were when we first opened and have expanded our ranges to include everything from sustainable kitchenware to environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Re-branding can be tricky for small businesses. It took a considerable amount of time to develop and if you know anything about running a small business you will know that time is not a commodity that we have in abundance! We have worked hard to build our brand recondition and didn't want to lose that however felt that ' Little Twidlets' just wasn't 'it' for us anymore, our brand name needed to evolve, develop and grow up the way that our business had.

When I tell you it was sooo hard to choose a name. Finding something that felt right, that wasn't another business's name, that we could get the web address and social media handles for felt almost impossible!

But after much searching, lots of scribbling on note pads and many chats with friends and family, we finally settled on 'Hadley Green Home' but then we needed to choose a logo icon, a font, and a colour pallet. Que, lots more scribbling and deciding.

Hadley Green Home dandelion
For the icon we took inspiration from the dandelion flower. The symbolism of a dandelion fits in with our brand ethos.
Dandelions were historically highly valued, a stark contrast to their modern reputation as weeds, but the dandelion is making a comeback due to growing awareness of their importance, which is very similar to the sustainability concept.
Dandelions are also resilient and have the ability to grow and thrive in harsh conditions. You can use every part of the dandelion, from the roots, to the leaves and the flowers, a nod to the zero waste concept and it's a nature based icon, which goes hand in hand with sustainability.
However, It was too complicated and detailed for an icon so again after much deliberation, we simplified it right down, settled on a classic but interesting font and turned the whole thing a rich blue grey colour and finally our logo was done. Just in time for us to open our new high street shop!
